quite a history on Usenet.  It’s no surprise he hides his identity. The Nizkor site collects information on net.Nazis, white supremists and other assorted racist types, and Bill Grosvenor has a whole section devoted to himself.  Find out which Judge called Grosvenor the "Master of Malice" and which mental institution Grosvenor was committed to: http://www.nizkor.org/hweb/people/g/grosvenor-william/ And, there’s even a Usenet FAQ on Grosvenor, with a lead-in by Bill under yet another account: Quite a piece of work. Interesting: I have read, re-read and re-re-re-read my post JF and I cannot find ONE instance where I used the word abandon or abandoning or any variation of the word.  Don’t make this something it’s not.   In fact I said (which you failed to quote, how interesting):   > First is this an admission by AC that they cannot compete in Western > Canada (similar to CP in the East)?

The above statement makes clear that both carriers are in the same boat but in different markets, there is no attempt to pick on one or the other. Instead of being defensive why don’t you attempt to answer one of the two questions. Mike

Could it also have to do with the fact, that in the west, people will REFUSE to fly with Air CaCa, because of the almost impossibility to get seats? Hanging on to a phone for 3 days, which is typical for Aeroplan suckers, is unacceptable, particularly when Canadian gets service within three minutes. This is the evidence of recent news reports in western Canada. How bad is Air Caca service in eastern Canada? By the way, have all of you forgotten that it was Air Canada, with the collusion of the government, who spread AIDS worldwide, deliberately?? This is well documented in the 640 pages of the book "AND THE BAND PLAYED ON"!!!! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->After announcing their very good 2nd quarter results Air Canada has also >indicated they have a severe cost control problem.  Apparently part of it >stems from heavy losses in Western Canada, where AC has been unable to gain >a foot hold.  AC’s CFO said that Air Canada will begin removing aircraft >from Western Canada and redeploying them to Eastern Canada and >U.S. routes.  AirBC and other connectors will fill in and focus on >YVR and YYC. >I have two questions: >First is this an admission by AC that they cannot compete in Western Canada >(similar to CP in the East)?   >Two is this part of some higher plan by the powers to be to divide the >country between the two airlines?  The east for AC, the west for CP. >It seems to make sense from a perspective of maintaining two carriers. >In the U.S. you have very little real head on competition between the big >guys and mostly one carrier hub towns.  Could this be where we are >headed in Canada??  Where CP controls the major airports in the west with >a few token flights in the east and AC controls the east with a few token >flights in the west.  Food for thought. >Mike

AC has been steadily decreasing its Western operations for years, handing them over to subsidiaries (Air BC,Central Mountain etc.). They recently introduced Rapidair on the YVR-YYC-YEG triangle, but I don’t know how well they are doing. I personally believe they lost customers to Canadian, and latterly Westjet as a result of the first pull-out, and probably didn’t get many back (East vs West thing, you know). If they don’t intend to drop Rapidair West, then there’s not much left to cut. Saskatoon – 9 a day, Regina 8, 10 out of 18 YEG-YYC are already Air BC. They won’t stop the trans-continentals, but could drop some middle of the day flights. Mornings and evenings are always packed. I don’t know if there is any collusion/ master plan behind this, but you are right in thinking AC’s main focus is on the east and south. I think it’s the combination of Canadian and the phenomenal success of Westjet that’s behind it. Brian YYJ (AC left years ago !)

After announcing their very good 2nd quarter results Air Canada has also indicated they have a severe cost control problem.  Apparently part of it stems from heavy losses in Western Canada, where AC has been unable to gain a foot hold.  AC’s CFO said that Air Canada will begin removing aircraft from Western Canada and redeploying them to Eastern Canada and U.S. routes.  AirBC and other connectors will fill in and focus on YVR and YYC. I have two questions: First is this an admission by AC that they cannot compete in Western Canada (similar to CP in the East)?   Two is this part of some higher plan by the powers to be to divide the country between the two airlines?  The east for AC, the west for CP. It seems to make sense from a perspective of maintaining two carriers. In the U.S. you have very little real head on competition between the big guys and mostly one carrier hub towns.  Could this be where we are headed in Canada??  Where CP controls the major airports in the west with a few token flights in the east and AC controls the east with a few token flights in the west.  Food for thought. Mike

Interesting: when CP reduces capacity in Eastern Canada, we’re not allowed to say that CP is abandonning eastern Canada. We have to say that CP is adjusting capacity to match demand and make better utilisation of its aircraft capacity. But when AC wants to do the same in western Canada, it OK to say that AC is abandonning the market ? I’d say that AC will simply wish to keep frequencies, but use smaller aircraft and download some flights to the much cheaper regional carriers.
