B5 and dry lips

One of my books says it’s proven useful in the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver and chronic hepatitis, by improving digestion it reduces the strain on the liver. (less ammonia obsorbed into the bloodstream that must be detoxed by the liver). Also says many consider L bifidus to be preferable to L. acidophilus for use in children and for adults with liver disorders. (From Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Balch and Balch) As for whether it would synthesize that much B5, it establishes a healthy environment for the bvites. I am just wondering if by increasing the good bacteria, you would require less B5, since there would be more good flora to help out with each dose. One pill a day is like ten cents or less, and I don’t see any chance of it hurting the mechanism of B5, it will either do nothing for it (but improve your digestive flora otherwise), or it will help. I mention this because the percentage of people requiring >10g seems very very small. So perhaps there is a problem with how it is being broken down and used for that percentage, the flora idea would make sense. At any rate, I thought it worth mentioning. :) Kita

Response:

The highest I ever tried was 8 grams a day (for 3 months) and it never affected my lips vs.
