Baby Hair Solution Needed
Question:
Hi there! I raise persian cats and show them. One of the biggest aids in removing "grease" from the cat’s coat to get that "show look" is Goop. You can buy it for about $1.00 at the hardware store. It should do the trick. Work it thoroughly through the hair and let stand (be careful not to get on face). Follow with Dawn dish detergent. Rinse, rinse, rinse. It might take two washes at different times, but Goop will probably work. LOL! Oh my…. What kind of shampoo are you using? If you haven’t tried it already, you should try one of the shampoos made for oily hair. Also, maybe handsoap might be able to break the grease down a bit. Just be careful not to get it in her eyes. Kim

That’s made of petrolatum and beeswax. Petrolatum is washable with dishwashing liquids and beeswax is soluble in hot water or isopropyl alcohol. Steve

No, this isn’t animal fat, it is petroleum grease, and beeswax, which is a very complex carbohydrate like a fiber gel. Try warm mineral oil on the petrolatum and then strong diswashing liquid, or Era. Steve

What are you washing with? My recommendations (from an episode getting A&D ointment out of a kid’s hair): Step 1.) Work some baby oil into the hair. Use an old comb to remove as much goo as you can. Finish with a washcloth. Step 2.) Using the warmest water the child can tolerate, wet the hair. Work a rather large dollop of shampoo (the kind for oily hair) around to a thick lather. Rinse well. Repeat, with smaller dollops of shampoo. Finish with baby shampoo. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I suspect that time is the biggest factor here, but wondered if you had any > ideas on how to ungrease the little monkey? > Thanks, > Sedona > Mommy to Tori (2) and Kai (10)
