CoQ10 Dosages

Question:

<<Yes I too would like to see some definitive information and verification about the Japanese situation where it is said to be available on prescription. I don’t think this is covered in the literature on CoQ10.>> My latest source for the "Japanese info" (which I had heard many times) is a couple of the top execs at Receptagen Inc., Edmonds, Washington, a biotech company that is preparing to market an Rx form of CoQ10 for the treatment of AIDS. They send me information on a regular basis…and are in the know. Jack

Response:

: <<Most people I talk to who have used heart medications have mentioned : difficulties in adjusting to their medications and have needed : several adjustments in dosage and/or change of medication before : achieving tolerance and the desired benefits. >> : : Colin, you’re absolutely right on this one. Peter Langsjoen, MD, has told me : that he usually has to adjust other heart medications downward when he : administers CoQ10 (in the treatment of cardiomyopathy). : : Jack And therefore a very good reason why persons with a heart condition should consult their physician/cardiologist before starting to use CoQ10 irrespective of dosage level. If the physician concerned is unhelpful about using CoQ10 a second or third opinion can be sought. When you think about it carefully there are very good reasons for CoQ10 to be on prescription and under the control of physicians in the treatment of heart conditions. BTW my GP found Langsjoen’s treatise and reference list very interesting when I gave him a copy recently :-) Bye,
