I’m a traditional blackpowder fan.  When I started muzzleloading, I vowed to never use telescopic sights on a traditional muzzleloader.  I know, I know, telescopic sights were available for blackpowder, but, I just never seemed to accept the looks of one on a traditional gun.    However, that was 18 years ago!  For some reason time has a way of changing things, like eyesight.  I have changed sights on my gun three times over the years, searching for sights easier for my eyes to use.  Hopefully, my search is over.  Last year I had the fiber optics mounted on my 50 cal. and Holy Cal!  what a difference.  Makes me feel 10 years younger cause I can see the sights!!    I missed a buck last season, before the fiber optics, that would go 162 B&C because I didn’t have a good sight picture.  He better watch out now!    Anyway, I’m very happy with my fiber optic sights.  And for you young guys that frown on optical aids, just wait a few years and you’ll see – - – less. I am in the beginning stages of a retro-fit to new fiber optic open-sights. The new host is an older Rem. 742.  Has anybody made the switch? If so let me know how you like them.  I’ve seen the ones for shotguns and Any response(s) will be greatly appreciated!  Happy hunting!!
