How many ear holes at the same time?

Question:

Hi!  Since multiple earrings are so common, I’ve been wondering how many  holes one could have at a time without problems? A girl I know says  she’d like to have 4 holes done in each ear at the same time. Any  experiences? Some of them would be through cartilage I guess.  - RockFord

Depending on what you want to do with them in the future, you could fit a lot of small gauge piercings.  BME has a few pics of people with 10 or more. (not in the lobe, of course). Originally I considered getting like 4 or 5 in each lobe, but now that I am stretching, I realized that I wouldn’t have had the room for any more than the 3 I have now..  —- When things look dark, hold your head high so it can rain up your nose.    |     ~o~o~o~o~o~o~        Semaj the $piceman         ~o~o~o~o~o~o~    |    | "Follow me into the desert, as thirsty as you are…" — Soundgarden |

How many holes you could get would really depend on your ear size, the gauge jewlery you want to wear and how close you put the piercings. My left ear has one stretched lobe (between 1′and 1 1/4′) and 5 addtional holes. I am quite fortunate that none of them are cartilage because I have lots of skin almost all the way to the top of my ear. My right ear only has one piercing in addtion to the lobe, I will be adding addtional jewlery to that ear as soon as I don’t need winter hat anymore.                         Misha

I have 5 piercings in my left ear lobe, 3 in the right. The reason for the discrepancy (I really wanted both sides to match) is that on the right hand side I had two done, right next to each other, at the same time. I don’t know if they were too close and irritated each other or what, but one of them got badly infected and had to be abandoned after about a week. The other one lasted about a year, when I finally admitted that it was migrating seriously and gave up on it. Like I said, I can’t be sure if this is the reason, but it’s the only time I’ve ever had 2 piercings in 1 location done at the same time, and they are the only piercings I have ever abandoned from necessity rather than choice. Love, Kate.

Hi,         The limiting factor is not the number of piercings at one time but rather your ability to take care of all of them adequately at the same time.         If she wants to get 4 piercings at the same time that ok, but she should expect about 15 minutes of aftercare in the morning and 15 minutes of aftercare in the evening in order to get all those piercings cleaned etc.  The more piercings you get the more work it is.         Good Luck                 Eric

I have five in the left ear (two of which are cartilage and right next to eachother) and three in the other (all lobe).. They were all done with a gun… For about three hours I had a sixth between the bottom cartilage and top lobe, but it hurt way more than it should have (either that or I just didn’t really want it).. I got it on a whim when our schoole band was on a trip in Saskatoon and all the girls were getting their ears done for 6$/hole, without needing parents’ permission, and, well, I felt like it (either that or I couldn’t let everyone get pierced and not me… :)   Oh yeah, there’s my right traegus which was done professionally but got infected none-the-less due to my own ignorance… And last but not least plans to have my right cartilage done by my piercer, but I’m hesitant cuz i don’t want him to see the infected traeg that he did…… hmmmmm…. but I’m sure it’ll get fine then… There’s this girl who used to go to my school who had at least 15 going all the way up, little gold hoops in all of them.. it looked really great except i hate gold, but that’s just me :) > Hi! >  Since multiple earrings are so common, I’ve been wondering how many >  holes one could have at a time without problems? i have 10 holes all together..all hoops..5 in each ear..im getting more done as soon as my last hole heals..i dont think i would get more than 1 pierced at a time just because of the after-care..it would be a pain every morning to clean more than 1 in a morning, and i would think that the piercing would heal much quicker to get one done at a time

I have seven holes in all, & four of them were done with a gun in the same appointment. I lived in a quaint little village where only the jeweller’s & one beauty salon pierced ears, & I was young & keen to get more holes before my mother got out of hospital (I’d forgotten that was why it was so important to get ‘em all at once!) & we didn’t need parental consent in those days. I was pretty tense during & after & remember chewing so much gum I made my jaw ache & wishing I smoked… Lucy (about to get her pic took for a magazine & considering a new hole) — "I stood naked in a dark & bleak eternity & filled it with my exultation"                                             Wynn Westcott (1848-1925)

The first five (one upper cartilage) were done one by one, the last three to close the gap, all cartilage, in one go since I didn’t want to spent the better part of a year to heal them one by one – it’s my phone ear. So far they are doing nicely. Gabriele

Depends what type of hearing aid you’re wearing…if it’s a BTE (behing the ear) type, multiple earings wold hinder the wearing of said device…if it was an ITE Full shell (fits completely in the conch and *hooks* in the Helix (helix is the depression in the ear that follows the conch up and curves inside towards the head) at the same time…i don’t see that carts or lobes would affect it…although a daith would definitally be uncomfortable to wear…now an ITE Half shell…(fits in about 1/2 the conch only…rest is inside the canal) wouldn’t be a problem for anything besides either tragus, or antitragus pierces…since the microphone is usually located in that little nook between both of those… My $.02 from 2 years as an hearing aids technician… *Don’t hate me because i’m modded, i don’t hate you because you’re biased*
