I contend that if you can do it cold turkey, do it cold turkey. Just do it. Get it over with. Do it today. Mike

Heather, No method of quitting is "Bad". Some people (like me) have a really bad time with nicotine withdrawal, and for me, the combination of zyban and the patch was a Godsend. It didn’t make the quit easy, but at least I didn’t have to battle the withdrawal symptoms and with careful stepping down of the patch was able to get free of nicotine with relative ease. Some people might call me a wimp. I call me a non-smoker. It depends. For an average, healthy person there is nothing "bad" about stopping "cold turkey." If you have any health problems, you should consult your doctor, because cold turkey can be pretty hard on the system. As for whether it’s the "best method," that depends on the individual. It wasn’t the best method for me. It just made me suffer more. I quit several times using several methods, and cold turkey was the worst. But that’s just me. Some people prefer cold turkey as a way of getting "in the zone" and getting it overwith. Edna Pearl OF

If you decide to go cold turkey, IMHO, the articles at www.whyquit.com are very helpful and inspirational.

Heather, No it is not bad to quit cold turkey. It is just a bit harder for the first week or so as you deal with both physical and mental withdrawal at the same time. If you use some form of NRT or other aids the physical or the mental part is put off while you deal with only 1/2 of the issue at one time. For many folks that makes it a bit easier but not necessarily better than those who just simply quit. I like to say that when you are in the proper mental state of readiness then any method or no method at all (cold turkey) will lead to eventual success. Pick whatever method is best for you and go for it cause that is the only right method for your quit. Ian OOF — 6y 2w 5:11 smoke-free, 72,807 cigs not smoked, $8,274.52 saved,
