Light Rings

Question:

> I have the new 5 series and I love the rings too.  Problem I never get to > see them when I’m inside the car!

I have to admit that I’m NOT a fan of the light rings on the new 5ers. They look like a marketing gimmick, trying to look "cool." And they have to be more expensive than the previous (for everywhere but the US) 4 watt bulb in the high beam. And it seems to be the start of a disturbing trend, witness the lights (both ends) of the new E46 compact. They look like (pardon the expression) "rice-burner" wannabes. Please no offense, these opinions are solely my own, and I really don’t expect anyone else to share them, as I frequently am out of sync with other consumers. — Arne Berglund Reply to: berglund(at)teleport(dot)com 1981 323i 1992 K75RT The BMW E21 GrayMarket Web Site http://www.teleport.com/~berglund Think Different — Made With Macintosh

I think I saw them on the Turner Motorsport website or something with a similar name, they were $700 US for regular halogens, I think 1200 for xeon, and I think 1500 for a car that originally had halogens to get xeons. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> > Is it childish for a 40+ year old man to say he just loves the look > of the > > light rings on his new e39? :^) I kind of feel like the guy in the > > Volkswagen commercial who is so happy his windows go up and down > with the > > twist of his key in the door :^) > No way, If if could afford a new E39 the lights would be > a big factor for me, they look fantastic. I have the new 5 series and I love the rings too.  Problem I never get to see them when I’m inside the car! Check out the tail lights too.  They’ve changed and look really good except not so obvious.  They don’t use a single bulb for the lights anymore they use about 5 or 6 thin strips.  Nice effect.  Can’t wait until the blow! Fly.
