Removal of nipple ring

Question:

I removed my nipple ring (in my right nipple) about 2 weeks ago, and there remains an obvious difference in appearance between my right nipple and my unpierced left nipple: the left and right sides of the nipple protrude, as if there was still a piece of metal there making the skin stick up. My question is, will my right nipple look like this forever? And, is there anything I can do to make it look normal again? If not, I guess my only option is to get it repierced…. Thanks for your help =) Sumner

If you get some small tapers, it might actually still have a thin tube that you could stretch back up if you are careful. Geoffrey

My boyfriend took his nipple jewelry out quite a few years ago (long before I knew him) and his nipple still looks how you’ve described . . . I’m guessing this is scar tissue.  His has been there for a long time and doesn’t look like it’s going away any time soon.  YMMV, of course.  I really don’t think it looks bad enough to pay for the plastic surgery to make it look "normal" again, tho I wouldn’t be against him getting it repierced.  ;) — *sarahmonster >^..^<

I did just that ! Never did understand why I ever took it out in the first place a few years ago. Also it has healed within 2 weeks of being repierced. coming soon – http://freespace.virgin.net/liam.giddins/ ICQ – 28538761

Mine was like that at first, but it went away.  You can still see the faint scars where the holes were, but the shapes are normal.  Either way yours works out, I’m sure it won’t be beastly.  :) WyrdWoman

IANAD. That said, it’s probabaly just scar tissue, and some of it will probably be reabsorbed over time. And in some cases, massaging the area aids in reabsorbtion of scar tissue. So you might want to try massaging. In the *worst* case, you’ll have a legitimate excuse to play with your nipples a lot. :) myrrh (strike strike.)

yeah mine went like that. but now there’s no real noticable difference, well maybe i can tell a difference, but then again i doubt a stranger would :-) i think mine healed okay cos it was mostly healed when i took it out, there was just a bit of a prob after it got ripped slightly. anyway, as above i hope it heals okay for you!!!
