96 Caravan Code 63

Question:

You’re probably going to need to take it in to the dealer… the PCM is the (engine?) computer, and the EEPROM is the memory the computer saves its settings to… so basically your computer is saying it knows what it’s doing, but it can’t save any of the settings learned from the various sensors and such. It sounds like a faulty computer, but with electronics being what they are today, it could be something as simple as a loose ground wire. I don’t think you’ll be able to figure that out without taking it in. …why is it that even when I’m right, I’m wrong?

your PCM is one of your computer control modules. it controls among other things the sensors in your cooling system.  have you had any trouble with overheating lately?  or does the engine run warmer than usual. I don’t know if it’s covered under warranty, but they are quite expensive (anywhere from 180-440 dollars)

I agree about the PCM leaving you stranded. also, if you live in a hot humid climate, you will be replacing it again in about 60-70,000 miles.  my Chrysler guy here in Korea tells me that because most of them are mounted under and behind the battery, they get no cooling and heat as you know will shorten the life of any electronic part.  he has had to replace four in the past 3 months on voyagers here. get your vehicle on a good analyzer and really check for this.
