Eyebrow ring

Question:

Hi everyone,                    I am considering getting an eyebrow ring but since I play football I am wondering whether you are able to take it out once it has healed. If so, how long before I could take it out? I would only be taking it out for games. thanks in advance Will

Response:

I would say 3-5 months to heal completly.. it takes a while..i have 3 last one done 2 1/2  months ago still not fully  healed yet

Response:

Hey excuse my ignorance but what are the advantages / disadvantages of having an earing done by a gun rather than a needle. I was telling my mom needles are better but didn’y really have alots to back it up with! Thanks in advance abi the alien — "The truth is out there"

Response:

The "Mall Ear Lobe Gun" is very unsanitery. First they pierce everyone with the same gun. The manufacturers of the guns claim that this is a bloodless process and therefore no need for setirlization. WRONG! Every time you push an object into living tissue there is some blood loss visible or not. Thats why techs that take blood in hosipitols now wear eye protection. Second even if the wielder of the gun claims it is steril IT IS NOT. The only way to sterilize against HIV, Hepatitus is an autoclave that is regularly spore tested. A gun can not be autoclaved. Many good studios are now using a machine that beats tissue of instruments with sound waves and then autoclaving. This is the best way to sterilize and any shop that does not use these techniques does not deserve your business. Third a needle is only used once and then should be disposed of in a biohazard container not the trash and picked up for proper medical waste diposal by a local sanitation company. If you do not see a biohazard container then that shop does not deserve your business. I have heard of disposable ear lobe guns. While a nice Idea I doubt that these guns only get used once. If they are only used once did you see the gun go into a biohazard container? These are just a few of the reasons to go to a profesional that uses a needle and not a gun. I can not say weather this will convince your parent. I have seen mothers insist that they got theirs with a gun so it must be okay. And just to ramble, I have heard of people getting body piercings with a gun; navels, tongues, nipples and stuff like that. This is insane. I have 5 piercings including one in each ear, I have had many more but took them out. Other than my ears all my piercings are at least three years old and well healed. My SO has 17 or so some are freash and some are old and well worn. My suggestion is ask the piercer what kinda traing they have. Where did they get it? Who did they apprentice under? How do they sterilize? And ask anything else that you can think of; most people that love piercing will be willing to talk to you at some length? However I would suggest that if your going to ask 101 questions go to the studio when they are not busy. usaully early in the day. Otherwise a good piercer may seem irritated when you ask 101 questions and they have five customers that are paying. After doing this at a profesional studio, try it at the Mall or where ever they use Guns. then compare your results. This should be enough to convince anyone with a resonable intelect to get a profesionally done needle piercing and not a gun piercing. Thanks -Brady

Since I had such a wretched experience, let me re-iterate, let a professional piercer do your piercing. The guns are unsafe.  They use stud earrings which can…and do…embed themselves in your ear. <I am a living victim). Go to an experienced, professional piercer. Get him or her to pierce your ear with a lancet. And use a hoop to heal the piercing. Speaking from …er…sad experience… ellie

This happened to a friend of mine in high school, as well…the earring had somehow gotten sucked into her ear lobe, *in the back*, so she didnt’ notice it (I guess she never changed her earrings) until well after a fine film of skin had grown over it in back.  She had to go to a doctor and have part of her earlobe removed in order to get the earring out, and *then* got an infection on top of it all.  It looked pretty gross.  :P -C. — Carolyn Boyce                  *Slave to Information Technology Services* http://www.beloit.edu/~boycec          WebMistress, Beloit College ISTJ and Proud.                              Rent-A-Sysadmin —

:::sigh::: Andria, I was having a nervous breakdown, but didn’t think to take pictures. Not even a polaroid or one of those 5 and 10 4 shots for a buck types. . I should have let Keith take one for this archives though. Carolyn, Hey, haven’t seen you around here for over a year!  You may not remember who I am, as I had just started posting regularly when you took off for France.  You were on my mailing list for the first Chi-town munch I organized last January.  If you’ve posted in the meantime, I guess I missed it, and so did DejaNews. I got my eyebrow pierced on Dec. 26th. I think something is wrong with it. Underneath the skin, theres a bump or something. It doesnt hurt, I’m just worried about it. Has anyone else had this problem or might know what the hell is wrong? I refuse to take out my piercing, I’m not paying 40 bucks to have it done again.  Please email me if you can tell me whats going on!! I would appreciate it!! Thanks!!

Response:

First off, I don’t know if you’re using html that only other webtv users can read or not but it takes up too much space and takes forever to load. Please, save yourself the warm welcome and remove when posting. As far as the piercing problems goes it could be a number of things. I would suggest going and seeing your piercer and reading FAQs. — http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphitheatre/9352

could you be feeling the jewelry?  with piercings that are close to the surface you can often feel the metal through the skin. And, since I’m pretty sure this was your first post here, I’ll step in and say welcome to the group!  You might find answers to your piercing questions in our FAQs (see my .sig), and I invite you to read the Welcome FAQ as well. I notice that you have both images and sounds in your .sig file; as you’ll find out quickly enough if you hang around Usenet, both are inappropriate.  Please remove them and replace with text-only. You can find more info on what is and is not acceptible in Usenet in newsgroup news.announce.newusers. good luck, heidi — http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~heidi          http://www.bmeworld.com/heidi                RAB FAQS: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bodyart      RAB Welcome FAQ: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bodyart/netiquette

Please tell me that next time you’ll quote whatever the hell you’re talking about so some of us can know what your talking about. If you let the entire post load you will eventually hear a happy little tune which (i think) is the elevator equivalent of  Forty Six & 2, a song by TOOL from their album Aenima Rob.

Brice, please be aware that this is a non-binary group, and you should not be posting "happy little tunes".  For more info on this, please see newsgroup news.announce.newusers. heidi — http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~heidi   http://www.bmeworld.com/heidi RAB FAQS: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bodyart RAB Welcome FAQ: http://members.aol.com/ta2intl/welcome.html

No that’s where you’re wrong. Because like most of the readers of this group I get neither sound nor pictures. Neither of which should be posted to the newsgroup. — Chumley The Happy Clown Master Piercee "When my ass is spread like that it is not very comfortable… Oh my GOD! Where did the fish go?!?!"——Josh

I have not posted, nor do I condone the posting of sounds/pictures, I was only responding to a query of yours from my earlier post. Lighten up a little. Rob.
