friendly FIV+ cat in need of home
Question:
Hi, Anybody willing to help Charlie? He is a former stray (very friendly, and non-aggressive) neutered Male cat with FIV+? He has Black on top, and white on the bottom. The cat is estimated at 3-4 years old. The cat is located in Windsor, Ontario in Canada, but will personally deliver the cat to a good home, including anywhere in the US or Canada. My fiance, who rescued the cat had him tested for FIV, is currently retesting. She doesn’t want to risk placing with her non-HIV two female cats (and my two wrestling males once we get married). She is against turning him over to an animal shelter, for she is afraid he’d have to spend the rest of his days in a cage. This cat deserves a home. The cat has lived a rough life as a stray, being too nice for his own good. She is strongly considering euthanizing, for she doesn’t believe anyone would want an FIV+ cat, but it is breaking her heart (mine too). I would very much like to find a home that has other FIV+ cats, or one that doesn’t have other cats. flame me with e-mail – I’m trying to help. ps: Please help, even if you only have a lead in finding a home, before it is too late. If the cat was tested by an in-house ELISA test, have the cat retested by the Western Blot (Immunoblot). Vet-office (ELISA) tests should be used *only* for routine screening and the Western blot for confirmatory testing of ELISA-positive samples, especially from healthy cats. Retest with the Western Blot before you make a permanent decision. Good luck. Phil
