Need help off topic
Question:
A dear friend has been suffering with viruses in her plasma, muscles and spinal chord (all the nervous system). She is not terribly internet literate and cannot spend time on the computer as she is flat on her back most of the time. I want to give her info as to sites that she might connect to with regard to her illness. She is a young mother and this has affected every phase of her life. Does anyone have any sites that might elminate some of the searching for her? She presently lives in NJ and is being treated holistically, by a Dr. in California. She seems to be improving, however the process is very slow. I don’t know if there are support groups for her, more info on her disease online, anything. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Aside from putting it on the NG please also send it to me directly. Thanks. Marlynn A day in which I haven’t learned something new is a day lost……

And pray tell, what virus is this? It could be HIV, hepatitis C or B. Influenza can affect muscle and rarely the brain. Coxsackie can rarely get the brain and often the heart. Neither can be commonly measured in plasma. There are not too many other viruses that affect muscles, and spinal cord and are found in the plasma too. Maybe she should get an appropriate medical evaluation by a neurologist, infectious disease specialist, internist or even rheumatologist in person rather than long distance holistic care from California (no offense to the Californians here). Marlynn — As supportive as I am of alternative medicine, I would say that a young mother who is flat on her back most of the time with an undetermined virus needs to be seen *in person* by a traditional doctor. Has she done that? Carolyn – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > A dear friend has been suffering with viruses in her plasma, muscles and spinal > chord (all the nervous system). Thank you Dr. Susan and Carol, I should have mentioned, but neglected to, that my friend has been through the mill with traditional doctors and every blood test imaginable. I have to admit, that I’m not sure about HIV, but I can’t imagine that it was not performed as well. This started about 3 years ago when her son was about 1. Fortunately, she and her husband are both professionals and money is no object. There are, therefore, able to leave no stone unturned. The Dr. in California seems to be the only one able to make any progress with her thus far. She did fly down to see him personally. She told him all of her symptoms…….he told her what he felt her problem was and prescribed her present treatment. There have been changes for the positive. I’m sorry, knowing what I know about this group I should have known better than to post without the above info as well. Thanks everyone for your input so far. I will ask her what her virus is called, she didn’t say that it had a name in her e-mail to me. I will repost after I get the info from her.
