Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Question:

Baloney. Female teenagers stood a thirty-five times greater chance of being killed in an accident last year than of developing AIDS (1997 data). The total number of teenage cases was 379 in the US in 1997. Overall rate of AIDs diagnoses is dropping for this group, indeed all groups in the CDC report. Seventy-eight teenage girls got AIDS last year from sex, DOWN from 90 in 1996. You are spreading the urban legend du jour of AIDS propaganda. Teenagers have far more important things to worry about than AIDS. Joe

Are you an ostrich?? Teens are among the fastest rising populations who are testing positive for HIV>

Sue Beers, this is for you, and if there actually are any teens reading this, please read my post, it is very important. > The best way to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases is to > wait until you are married before you make love with your spouse who also > has waited for marriage to have sex.
WHAT CENTURY DID YOU GROW UP IN? I GREW UP IN A CATHOLIC FAMILY OF 7 WHO HAD THAT WAY OF THINKING! HERES A WAKE UP CALL, IT DOESNT WORK! EVEN IF I WAITED FOR MARRIAGE, GOOD LUCK FINDING A MATE WHO HAS ALSO WAITED. MAYBE IF MY PARENTS EXPLAINED THE IMPORTANCE OF CONDOMS OR THE PILL I WOULDNT HAVE GOTTEN PREGNANT WHEN I WAS 18! I DID NOT HAVE AN ABORTION, INSTEAD I MARRIED, HAD MY DAUGHTER, MY HUSBAND CHEATED ON ME, COULD HAVE GIVEN ME A DISEASE, BUT DIDNT THANK GOD, WE DIVORCED AFTER 4 YEARS AND I WAS 22 YEARS YOUNG. WAS A TERRIBLE FEW YEARS AFTER THE DIVORCE. I AM NOW HAPPILY MARRIED AT 32 WITH A 14 YEAR OLD AND A 4 YEAR OLD FROM MY SECOND MARRIAGE. > Telling teenagers to use condom’s is very irresponsible.
I WILL TELL MY NOW 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HOW I PREFER SHE WAIT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, THAT SHE WILL BE INFACTUATED WITH MANY BOYS UNTIL SOMEONE SHE TRUSTS AND CAN BE CLOSE TO COMES ALONG TO BE SEXUALLY ACTIVE, BUT I WILL TELL HER ABOUT CONDOMS TOO. WE TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING REALISTICALLY AND SHE COMES TO ME WITH ANYTHING! Unlike myself and my parents! — "The future is no place to place your better days, Cry freedom, Cry" DJM

Oh, goody. It worked for you. Then it must be perfect for everyone, right? I’m not a teenager (not by a long shot) and I sure don’t need self- appointed guardians of morality like you to run my life for me. Having said all that, in general, I’m not real thrilled with the idea of 16-year-olds having sex either. I just don’t feel like writing any self-righteous screeds about it. — David Wright :: wright at ibnets.com :: Not a Spokesman for Anyone These are my opinions only, but they’re almost always correct. Advice like this has classically worked in the past with teenagers, right? >Telling teenagers to use condom’s is very irresponsible.
How’s that? If they’re going to do it (which they are, despite what mommy and daddy tell them at every chance), they should at least be responsible about it. I agree that abstinence is obviously the safest route, but you have to be realistic, too. Plus, who’s to say you don’t marry a formerly-promiscuous person, or someone currently cheating behind your back, that ends up giving you an STD anyway? marriage is hardly a cure for STD’s. >First, in a moment >of passion, they probably won’t want to stop and put one on.
They won’t want to, but that does not mean they won’t use one anyway. people do things all the time that they don’t want to do, but still know are good for them. >Second, they >probably don’t know how to use them properly,
The only reason for this is that they haven’t had anyone show them. Yet another fault in the abstinence-is-the-only-thing0I’ll-say camp. >and third, they have a false >sense of security thinking they are protected.
It’s better than the alternative, wouldn’t you agree? >Condoms can fail!
Sure they can, but if kids are going to have sex, why not limit the chances of somthing going wrong? >There is >no replacement for abstinence until marriage!!!!!
Using your brain is a pretty good replacement. As I said, STD’s are spread pretty easily between hubby and wife, too. My OPINION is that it is VERY responsible and it’s NOT denying reality! It would be gREAT if they waited, but they all don’t!

The best way to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases is to wait until you are married before you make love with your spouse who also has waited for marriage to have sex. Telling teenagers to use condom’s is very irresponsible. First, in a moment of passion, they probably won’t want to stop and put one on. Second, they probably don’t know how to use them properly, and third, they have a false sense of security thinking they are protected. Condoms can fail! There is no replacement for abstinence until marriage!!!!!
