I was watching Queen on the Rock & Roll Hall of fame the other night, and noticed John Deacon wasn’t there. Anybody know whats with that? Did I miss a meeting and he died, or did something else happen? Curious minds want to know:-)                                                       Aloha, Jerry

To my surprise also he did pass away.  I didn’t know.  I am not sure as to the circumstances of his death but it seems he went out with little fanfare. Too bad because he was definitely an unsung hero of the rock/bass world.

Deacon’s alive!! Scoured the news web pages, ie. bbc.co.uk etc…. no news of his death He is ill though…. and who ever insinuated it is HIV, then I think that you are probably wrong, John has always been the quiet one. neal.

I was very surprised to read one of the replies and discover that he has supposedly passed away. There is an official John Deacon Web site (http://www.queen-fip.com/jdeacon.html) and it doesn’t mention anything about him passing on.  One of the paragraps in his biography talks about him in the present tense (eg, "he likes to drink tea").  If he had passed on, I’d have thought he’d be spoken about in the past tense. — http://johnno.casebook.org
